DRAMA I – Theater Arts

Drama I introduces students to all aspects of theater, with a focus on acting. Teaching and methods instruction will include improvisation, voice, movement, character work, textual analysis, scene work, plays, monologues, performance ethics, and ensemble work.
ART I – Drawing and Composition

Art I is an introductory course designed to give students an enlightened and successful approach to drawing and illustration. In the first semester students begin with classroom exercises in line, gesture, value, perspective, and art composition. The second semester will focus on developing confidence and facility with the drawing mediums of ink, colored pencil, watercolor, and mixed media. Students view each of their class products in terms of personal, social, and cultural expression.**Art supplies will be the responsibility of each student.
ART II – Painting

Art II is structured around a combination of traditional and non-traditional painting techniques designed to give students successful experiences in painting. The first semester will involve water-based media, transparent watercolor, egg yolk tempera, gouache, and acrylic. The second semester will continue the use of water-based media, as well as oil painting and other various hybrid media. **Art supplies will be the responsibility of each student.
MUSIC – Singing Ensemble
Grade Level: 9-12
Length of Course: 1 year
Credits: 5 credits per semester
Prerequisite: Audition or instructor’s approvalCOURSE DESCRIPTION:
This vocal group will explore a wide variety of singing styles, such as classic, contemporary, and gospel. Students will focus on vocal technique while learning the basics in music notation and form. Performances will include semester concerts and other outside-of-class performances.
